Introduction

The Events Calendar - Sagely Integration Plugin seamlessly connects your Sagely API with The Events Calendar plugin on your WordPress site. This integration allows you to automatically pull events from the Sagely platform directly into your calendar, ensuring that your community's event information is always up to date.

Sync Frequency Update

Previously, users had the ability to customize the sync frequency. However, after reports of site downtime due to the server load caused by large event imports, we replaced this feature with a more efficient job queue system. We implemented a job queue service using the Action Scheduler, which handles event syncing on a 24-hour cycle. To avoid overloading the server, events are now synced in batches of 5 per job. This change ensures better server stability while keeping your event information refreshed daily without affecting site performance.

Getting Started

Installation

1. Download the Plugin: Ensure you have the latest version of The Events Calendar - Sagely Integration Plugin.

2. Upload the Plugin:

   • Go to your WordPress Dashboard.
   • Navigate to Plugins > Add New.
   • Click on Upload Plugin.
   • Choose the downloaded plugin file and click Install Now.

3. Activate the Plugin:

   • After installation, click on Activate to enable the plugin on your site.

Setting Up the Plugin

After activation, you will need to configure the plugin to start synchronizing events.

1. Access the Settings:
   • Go to Events > Sagely API in your WordPress admin menu.
2. Enter Your Sagely API Key:
   • Description: The Sagely API key is required to connect your WordPress site to the Sagely platform. This key is specific to your community.
   • Where to Get It: You can retrieve your API key from Sagely or contact Sagely support if you do not have it.
   • How to Enter It:
     • In the Sagely API Key field, enter the key provided by Sagely.
     • Click Save Changes to store the key.
